An updated version of a great “old” standby. Made with sweet, dark cherries, dried hibiscus flowers, piping-hot barley tea, orange bitters and non-alcoholic whiskey.

Ingredient Weight Measure
Barley tea bags (2.2 oz each) 4 each
Water, boiling 24 fl. oz. 3 cups
Hibiscus flowers, dried 1/4 cup
Simplot Simple Goodness™: Dark Sweet Pitted Cherries 1/20lb 2 1/4 oz. 1/2 cup
Sugar cubes 4 each
Orange bitters 8 dashes
Whiskey or bourbon, spiritless, non-alcoholic 8 fl. oz. 1 cup
Tangerine, zest, strip 4 each
Preparation Instructions:
Step 1
In tea kettle, add barley tea bags and hibiscus flowers and pour in boiling water. Let steep for 15-20 minutes. In glass pitcher or container, strain tea bags and hibiscus flowers, discard them and refrigerate liquid.
Step 2
For each serving; in an old-fashioned glass muddle 1 oz. cherries, 1 sugar cube and 2 dashes of orange bitters. Add large ice cube, 6 fl. oz. tea and 2 fl. oz. whiskey or bourbon. Rub tangerine zest around glass, twist and add to cocktail.
